vanitas deals with the question: what remains ? The series is triggered by the war of aggression against Ukraine. The images deal in a very specific way with the destruction that is happening there. The starting point are photographic silver gelatine barite prints on fibre based paper. They are treated with liquids in such a way that the picture silver dissolves and rearranges. The original photograph is no longer recognizable. Only the image silver from which the photograph was composed remains. The results are abstracts of image silver. What you see are photographs reduced to its pure materiality.
